From the house there are serene mountain walks galore in this beautiful nature reserve, including a 3.5km Gorge leading down to a secluded pebble beach with palm trees. All around the nearby coast are sandy coves, perfect for late afternoon swims and snoozes. Check the visitor’s book in the house for recommendations…

20 minutes drive (8km) down the mountain is the seaside town of
Makry Gialos with its long sandy beach and around 15 excellent beach-side restaurants next to the harbour. Makry Gialos has some lovely little touristy shops selling local and handmade produce. You’ll find supermarkets, Fournos (bakery or oven), cash machines, a post office and petrol stations.

The locals restaurants grow there own fruit and vegetables and use wild herbs from the mountains. Food you have never tasted before and no wonder they live to such a great age
