It was fully restored in 2000 as a family summer house with maternal care and exquisite taste. Xirosterni is a traditional village with very involved inhabitants who
continuously try to improve their village infrastructure and highlight its beautiful points. The village provides a mini market/café and a very traditional Greek kafeneion (café) which serves as a restaurant during the summer months. A lot of celebrations and festivals are organized throughout the year which showcases the village’s unity and long history.
It is a 5 minute drive away from Vamos, the biggest village of the area with facilities such as a bank, cafes, a health center, schools and shops. The closest sandy beach is Almyrida approximately 8 minutes drive away. Bigger towns such as Vrises, Kalives and Georgioupolis are about 15 minutes away.
Chania town lies 34 km away, Rethimno 33 km. The nearest airport is Chania airport Ioannis Daskalogiannis at 37,5 km and the closest port is Souda at 23,5 km.
