Fig Leaf House is situated in Mavrikiano, a small traditional village a stones throw away from Elounda town and a 5 minute walk to the sea.
The house has just been built, from a stone ground floor building from the 19th century with a mid 20th century addition on first floor. It was restored with attention to detail as you can see from the photos.
The owners know the surrounding area very well and can advise about walks and drives to get a better picture of Crete.

The space
The Fig Leaf House has two bedrooms upstairs, one double and one twin, as well as a toilet. There is a balcony on two sides of the building with mountain views. The bedrooms have air conditioning.
Downstairs there is a shower and toilet and a sitting room. In the sitting room there are cooking and eating facilities, cooker, microwave, toaster etc and a washing machine. Travel Details from the host -> Having lived and worked as a secondary school teacher in England for over 25years, myself and my wife- Ruth have recently retired home to the beautiful island of Crete after meeting here 35 years ago. We have three daughters who don't seem to mind the commute to visit us, and we have two dogs that we rescued that keep us active. We have now lovingly restored two traditional village properties one being our family home and through a lot of practice I have found a new passion for building...who said retirement would be peaceful. With the great weather comes delicious fruit and vegetables from my ever growing allotment and my love of snorkelling and scuba diving is always satisfied in the turquoise sea - another bonus of living in this sunny isle. We love to entertain family and friends with BBQs and traditional Greek recipes and our home is known as "the best restaurant in the village". Originally from Athens and moving to the island in my early 20's I have a wealth of historical knowledge about Greece and Crete itself which I love to share over a raki and meze...Yammas!
