Newly converted stone wall farmhouse apartment situated in the quiet, green village of Vourkoti, 20 minutes drive from the town of Chora and beaches. The shared patio opposite the apartment overlooks the well-known beach of Achla while nearby footpaths lead to Andros routes trails to neighbouring villages and a beautiful waterfall. Nearby there is a river with shady trees, a stone bridge, springwater and traditional farmhouses with carefully tended fruit and vegetable gardens, trees and flowers.

The space
The style of this space gives an insight into what farmhouses were once like. Although recently renovated, the original stone walls have been kept, as has the opening space to a clay oven that was once housed where the kitchen area is. The stone lintels were all originally part of the ceiling and add to the authenticity of the Cycladic style of this mountain village home.

Near the apartment, there are steps leading to an old stone bridge across a river as well as a church with a shady courtyard. The apartment is situated 200 steps down from where the church is. Surrounding the apartment there are other traditional stone farmhouses which are inhabited by friendly locals. Situated at 600 metres above sea-level, Vourkoti has cooler temperatures than the main town and nearby beaches. The thick stone walls of the house ensure respite from the heat even during a heatwave and an air conditioner is never needed. Although the days are warm, early mornings are sometimes misty and nights can be cool requiring extra clothing. The village of Vourkoti is the starting and ending point of three of the island's most scenic hiking paths. Trail#2 leads to Chora through the villages of Katakalei and Apoikia.
