Travel Guide Tour. Vacation Tour.

Meeting outside Kings Cross Station In London we will get the Express train to Newcastle Upon Tyne, a Roman city which later featured heavily in wars with Scotland. Its many fine buildings largely a legacy of the Industrial Revolution and its famed coal and shipbuilding industries. Known around its world for its beer and bridges amongst other things, Newcastle is a city like no other and we will get to see both the most amazing urban train view in Britain as well as a street voted Britains most beautiful (not Edinburgh or Bath)! We will surely find a great place to eat or drink in this city with a well renowned reputation for for its pubs before we return back to London. If time allows we can customise this tour and visit The Angel of the North. Please note the typical train journey time each way is around 3 hours.

See the famous Tyne Bridge, the most famous of the many bridges across the River Tyne and learn of why this design was chosen.

Once a hive of industrial activity now teeming with bars and restaurants with great views across the river to the Sage and Baltic Exchange buildings.

Our very own Millennium Bridge.... and it winks!

Perhaps the finest musical acoustics outside of London.

Now an iconic art gallery but once part of the old docks.

One of the few buildings in Newcastle that survive from the Jacobean Period

The Romans first built a castle here and of course we are near one end of Hadrians Wall that spans the country to the Tyne which was then an impenetrable defensive barrier.

We'll go inside this beautiful old and very distinctive Cathedral.

It's been described and voted as the most beautiful Urban street in Britain with fine Georgian buildings and a delicate sloping curve. The very heart of Newcastle.

A Newcastle landmark for one of the great figures of history.

Newcastle has a long history of engineering excellence and is now a centre of Bio-medical research, not that you'd know by these beautiful old buildings.

Home of one of the historical great football teams. Now sadly in the doldrums but hopefully not for long!

Away from the crowds is this delightful old historic quarter.

See some of the medieval walls that at one point surrounded the city from the invading Scots!

The Roman Catholic Cathedral.

The most viewed work of art in Europe and symbol of North East England. A unique mix of modern art and industrial heritage and to us a big fat 'Welcome Home' sign when arriving from the south. (Optional as just outside the city)

As we wait for the train back to London, we take in the atmosphere of the very first train station in the world with a roof!
