The center can be reached by tram (43) in about 15 minutes. The best way is to take the tram 43 at the station Elterleinplatz (1min walk from the house) until the station Schottentor. Once at Schottentor you can explore the city center by foot.  The U6 station Alser Straße is 2 tram stops away (route in direction of Schönbrunn palace).
